We were really looking forward to welcoming you into our school tomorrow evening and showing you what makes the educational experience here exceptional.
However, this afternoon I received communication from the Local Authority that there is now a red heat-health alert for Wednesday and Thursday and therefore I have made the decision to cancel the Open Evening tomorrow night.
One of our core values is wellbeing and given the weather it is not right to go ahead with this evening on this occasion.
All of our staff usually stay for this evening, and we have huge numbers of pupils’ present including tour guides, subject ambassadors and the Head Girl team giving speeches and therefore putting the wellbeing of staff and pupils first my decision is to cancel.
I know that families usually bring their child, and I would also worry about your daughter and such a long day in this heat until late into the evening touring our school.
I know many of you will be disappointed and hope that you can understand the rationale behind the decision.
Our admissions officer Mrs Lou Rumbelow is reviewing the school calendar for the remainder of the year and will be in touch by the end of the week with alternative options to visit the school in the next 4 weeks and beyond.
Thank you for your understanding
