Siena Wilkinson in year 7, normally to be found at home in a swimming pool, swapped her comfort zone at the weekend to take part in her first open water swimming competition.
Competing in the 750m under 15 female event at the Devon and Cornwall Open Water Championships at Strete Gate Beach, Siena obliterated the competition, finishing 12th/48, to be crowned 'Female 11 Devon County ASA Open Water Champion'!!
The sea wasn't exactly a mill pond at the weekend so Siena had a bit of a choppy time in the waves, currents, wind, cold water, wildlife and 47 other competitors all swimming in close proximity!
What an absolutely incredible achievement and she even overcame her fear of open water (we love those mirrored swimming goggles btw).
