11+ Practice Examination - Saturday 26 June

We know that for many children, sitting a formal exam can feel daunting. While preparation and revision are important, confidence often comes from experience. Our aim is simple: to give every girl the opportunity to walk into the real examination having already experienced the process, the format, the timing and the atmosphere of a formal test here at TGGS.

The practice examination will take place here at school and will mirror the experience of the actual 11+ examination as closely as possible. Girls will be able to familiarise themselves with exam conditions, understand what to expect on the day and build confidence in their own abilities.

We are particularly proud that this initiative reflects our commitment to ensuring opportunity is available to all. For families in receipt of Free School Meals, the practice examination will be provided free of charge. For all other families, the cost will be £50, helping us to cover the administration, staffing and resources required to deliver a high-quality experience including the marking of the paper.

At our school, we believe that talent and potential exist in every community. We want every girl to have the chance to demonstrate her abilities with confidence, regardless of background or circumstance. By introducing this practice examination, we hope to remove some of the uncertainty that families often feel and provide valuable support during what can be a challenging process.

We are incredibly excited to launch this initiative and to continue finding new ways to support children and families across Torbay. We hope this opportunity will allow girls to approach the real examination with greater confidence, reassurance and belief in themselves.

The Practice Examination will take place on Saturday 26 June.  Families should arrive for 9am, for a prompt 9.30am start.
Final details and timings will be confirmed via email, nearer to the event.
