KS3 Music

KS3 Overview

Here at TGGS, we believe that music plays a vital role in child’s development of self-confidence and personal expression. Therefore, it is the aim of the department that musical activities are, without exception, accessible to all students. At KS3, students have weekly lessons, allowing for consistent development of the practical skills explored. The curriculum spans over a wide range of music styles, composers and mediums, allowing for complete creativity and a broad musical understanding.

Building on KS2 and preparing for KS4…

KS3 Assessment

Formative assessment happens when students are carrying out practical work. Misconceptions are quickly addressed through teacher/lead learning support. Start/mid/end point reflection in booklets allow students to see their own progress and determine areas for improvement. Mini whiteboards are used for encouraging whole class participation and responses to low-stakes questioning. Do now tasks used to recap material covered in previous learning.
