A-Level Results Day

There was a very happy, positive buzz at Torquay Girls’ Grammar School on Thursday when this year’s A-level results were published.   Overall, the School achieved a 100% pass rate with 78.% of students achieving A*, A or B grades. Remarkably, 32 students – almost a third of the cohort – achieved at least 3 A grades at A-level.

                                            
 
Director of Sixth Form Mr James Gregory confirmed that the majority of students had secured places at their first choice University. He paid particular tribute to the approach of the ‘Class of 2013’ saying; “The girls in this particular year group managed to successfully combine a commitment to their many individual interests both within and outside school, with the ability to work very hard when necessary.  We are all delighted for them – the staff have worked so hard with the girls to bring this success about, and all that effort is definitely worth it when you see the excitement on the students’ faces.’ 
 
Headteacher Dr Nick Smith said; “We are very proud indeed of the academic achievements of our students,  but they only tell part of the story.  Our challenging and broad Sixth Form curriculum means our girls leave us with a range of very marketable skills and personal qualities - they are fully equipped for further success in the next stage of their lives; wherever that may take them!”
