Joining Year 12

Our sixth form team really look forward to welcoming you into TGGS sixth form. We pride ourselves on providing the support and the guidance that is needed to enable all students to fulfil their goals and ambitions. Each student is treated as an individual, with the aim of developing their curiosity, engagement, determination and independence.  We look forward to working with all of our students to make TGGS sixth form the place they want to be and are proud to be a part of. We work hard to develop a community ethos where our sixth form students contribute to school life, preparing them to be global citizens contributing to their communities at all scales from local to global.

Moving from Year 11 to Sixth Form can be daunting but we hope to make the transition from GCSE to A Level less stressful by providing students with a range of opportunities to support that move. In Year 11 they have the chance to ‘Be a sixth former for a day’ and experience a range of subjects and begin to get a ‘feel for life at TGGS sixth form’. They will also have one-to-one interviews about their applications and subjects they have chosen. We firmly believe that ensuring our students are on the right programmes is vital to their success and well-being. Over the summer of Year 11, all students are provided with A level transition tasks to prepare them for A levels, in order that they can make a flying start when they join.

Please go to the Joining Year 12 menu link and read through each of the pages.  This will provide students with information about what to expect in the first few weeks of joining us.

All other enquiries including subject changes should be directed to Sixth Form admin.

As a Sixth Form team we are committed to providing an outstanding education, alongside student well-being, support and empowerment through leadership and enrichment opportunities.  Starting the A Level programme is an exciting time, and we are looking forward to developing and supporting our students so they can successfully shape their future pathways.
