Year 9 Technology Enterprise update

Last term the year 9 students worked on an enterprise activity in small groups.  They were allocated Food, Textiles or Product Design and within that materials area they investigated a variety of options as to what types of products they should make that would generate a good profit when sold.  Some of the products included:

 

 

The students worked on making and testing their prototypes before going into full production.  Selling took place in and outside of school and also on the evenings of the school drama production, ‘Ebeneezer’.  We also held a Christmas Fair during lunchtime near the end of term, and the photographs show a selection of the students selling their products at this event.

 

Whether totally successful or not, all the girls learned a great deal from the experience of running their own mini businesses, from working in a team to managing the finances and generating sales.

 

The students voted to decide what percentage of the profit each of our chosen charities would receive.  The money has now been donated, as follows:

 

 

The girls should feel very proud of what they have achieved and we hope they will remember ‘enterprise’ as an enjoyable and interesting experience.
