Emergency Closure Information

For the latest school updates on the closure CLICK HERE.

As per government policy in response to the Covid-19 outbreak, the school site is now closed to most students. We have contacted parents via email regarding our arrangements for children of Key Workers and Vulnerable Children. Please refer this letter for further information.

All emails should be sent to: admin@tggsacademy.org where we will endeavour to respond at our earliest opportunity.

You can download a copy of our Working From Home guide for students HERE.

Additionally, here are two documents which support Mental Health & Wellbeing during the current period of school closure.  We hope you find them useful:

ARRANGEMENTS FOR STUDENTS IN THE EVENT OF FORCED CLOSURE

We always say that education happens all the time in all sorts of places.

In the event of an emergency closure, you need to be aware of the following protocols we would follow:-

  • You will be set work for each lesson you miss in all subjects.
  • This work will be sent to you via e-mail or on TEAMS (which will generate an email) by 5.00pm on the previous day.
  • Staff will respond to any concerns or queries you have about the work that has been set within 24 hours – but this will be a challenging time for all, so only send important e-mails related to the work set please.
  • You may be set not only work for the missed lessons, but additional homework, as you would have been if at school.
  • Please do keep the school informed of any health concerns you have by contacting your Head of Year via email.

To summarise -

School closure: By 5.00pm the previous day, students will receive the work for lessons they would normally be taught in school. At home, they should follow a normal school timetable as far as is possible. Some of the lessons will be live teaching – teachers teaching from their own homes - and if this is the case, the teacher will have made this clear by 5.00pm the day before.
