South Devon Area Athletics CHAMPS 2022!

Congratulations to all the athletes who took part in the annual South Devon Area Athletics Championships. We were 1 of 15 schools competing in extremely hot conditions at Exeter Arena, last Tuesday. We competed as a year 7 team, year 8 team and year 9/10 team. Everyone did extremely well, and the combined scores meant we WON the whole girl's competition and are South Devon Area Athletics Champions 2022!

In the year 7 team: 

Evie Farley Hobbs came 6th in the 100m and 4th in the shot having only learned how to throw it the day before.
Ellie Jackson came 3rd in 800m
Yasmin Yelland came 3rd in the high jump
Ava Perkins was 2nd in the 1500m
Emily Gaffney won the Javelin
Mia Maddock came 10th in the long jump
The team game 7th in the relay
All of which placed them 6th at the end of the competition. Very well done to all of you. 

In the year 8 team:

Katie Halliwell came 3rd in the 100m
Emily Passenger won the 200m
Grace Kimble was 10th in the 800m
Ella Jordan was 5th in the 1500m
Zara Joseph was 2nd in the Hurdles and won the triple jump
Nahla Hussain won the discus
Monali Perera came 5th in the Javelin
Ella Jordan was 2nd in the High jump
Daisy Simmonds was 10th in the long jump
The relay team were second and the team won the overall competition. This is an excellent achievement! Well done to all of you.

In the year 9 and 10 mixed team:

Zoe Iglesias was 6th in the 100m and 6th in the long jump
Jasmine Penfold was 3rd in the 200m
Lizzi Bumby was 3rd in the 800m
Georgia Taylor was 4th in the 1500m
Lauren Carr won the hurdles
Millie White came 3rd in the shot
Angelina Melody was 2nd in the Dicus
Xanthe Kilroy-Silk was 4th in the Javelin
Hermione Whetton was 4th in the high jump
Sophia Sutton was 9th in the triple jump
The team came 2nd in the relay
Overall the team came 2nd place which is an extremely good result. Well done to all of you!
